When disaster strikes, communication is often the first thing we lose and the one thing we can’t live without. That’s why Brazos County ARES is transforming a simple trailer into something far more: a mobile emergency communications unit, built to ensure Brazos County is never left without a voice. Although the image above is just an AI rendering, the plan is set and the work has begun! Check the project gallery to see them in action!
The work begins with the foundation. The trailer is being reinforced, insulated, and prepared for the power and wiring that will make everything else possible. From there, the interior will take shape; a clean, reliable space where walls, ceilings, and shelving turn bare metal into a working environment ready for volunteers.
Once the space is ready, the heart of the operation comes to life. Desks, lighting, climate control, and durable flooring will transform the trailer into a true command post, where long hours can be spent coordinating response and keeping information flowing. Every detail is chosen with one goal in mind: to make sure volunteers can operate under any conditions.
Finally, the unit will be equipped with what matters most; radios, antennas, and generators. These are the tools that turn this vision into reality, allowing us to send a message across town or across counties when it matters most. And when the work is complete, the trailer will carry not just equipment, but a clear message to the community: Brazos County is prepared.
The best way to support this project is through our secure donation link. Your contributions directly fund each step of the build, from construction materials to finishing touches.
We also welcome contributions of relevant materials or professional expertise. If your company supplies construction, electrical, or communications equipment, or if you are a licensed professional willing to lend your skills, please contact us at: contact@n5brzcares.org.
With your help, this trailer will become more than steel and wiring. It will be a rolling symbol of readiness, service, and strength—ensuring that, no matter what happens, our community always has a voice.
